A slip knot is used to start most projects and is the most simple way of starting a project.Â

Magic circle (advanced):
This is an alternative way of starting a crochet project that allows you to pull stitches together like a drawstring. This is particularly useful when crocheting in the round when creating soft toys. A way of cheating, if you do not want to try this stitch yet, is to make a slip knot, chain two and place the stitches that you would place in the magic circle in the second chain from your hook.Â
